Apply for Section 28 Approval for Activities under the Danish Subsoil Act

Companies planning to carry out drilling, geophysical/geotechnical surveys, or modifications to existing wells must obtain a Section 28 approval from the Danish Energy Agency before starting the work

You will need this:

  • Company registration number and contact details

  • Technical project information and any existing license or project name

  • A short description of the project purpose and planned start and end dates

  • A complete and detailed work programme. The programme and any annexes must collectively include information on equipment, work procedures, and execution methods

  • Any supplementary documents (e.g., technical documentation, drawings, procedures, etc.)

  • A risk assessment and description of implemented safety measures

  • If applicable, assessments/information related to environmental impacts and risks

  • If applicable, decommissioning plan for facilities and installations

  • If applicable, confirmation of municipal or authority involvement

  • If the application involves activities that may generate underwater noise (e.g. geotechnical, geophysical or seismic surveys), a completed version of the Danish survey application form ”Ansøgningsskema for geotekniske, geofysiske og seismiske undersøgelser i danske farvande (DSAT)” must be attached to the application.
