Veterinary technician (temporary provision)

If you wish to operate as a veterinary technician in Denmark, on a temporary or occasional basis, you must notify the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration of this. The notification must be provided before conducting the profession.

You will need this:

If you wish to operate as a veterinary technician on a temporary or occasional basis, you must make a written declaration to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration of this. You must also send in the following information and documents, the first time you send in your declaration:

  • Your full name and address including contact details such as phone number and e-mail address.

  • Proof of nationality (preferably a copy of relevant passport pages).

  • An attestation from the competent authorities in the member state of establishment certifying that you are legally established in that member state for the purpose of pursuing the activities, which you want to perform in Denmark. The specific diagnostic samples and the animal species or species concerned must be clearly mentioned in the attestation.

  • An attestation from the competent authorities in the member state of establishment certifying that you are not prohibited on a temporary or permanent basis from practicing as a veterinary technician.

  • Diploma or other evidence of professional qualifications allowing you to perform the profession as a veterinary technician in your home country.

The notification is valid for one year at a time and must be renewed annually, if you wish to operate on a temporary or occasional basis.

If you wish to work permanently as a veterinary technician in Denmark, you must obtain an authorization from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. Read more and apply here.
