SOLAS requires all passenger ships and cargo ships of 500 gross tonnage and above engaged on international voyages to have on board a Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR). A CSR describes the history of the ship, such as the ship's previous owners.

It can be a good idea to have the latest issued form 1 (CSR certificate) at hand when filling out a form 2.
It can be a good idea to have the builder´s certificate and other particulars about the ship at hand when filling out an initial input form.
A scanner to scan the filled out and signed form.
