We process the personal data for the following purpose:

• The case administration of applications for reimbursement of health insurance expenses, sickness benefits and maternity allowance. 

The legal basis for our processing of personal data is based on:

• Order on the Special Health Insurance Scheme for Seafarers etc.

• Order on sickness benefits for seafarers 

• Order on maternity/paternity benefits for seafarers

We process following categories of personal data:

• Civil registration number 

• Race or ethnic origin 

• Trade union membership 

• Data concerning health

We transfer or assign personal data to the following receivers:

• In some cases, personal data is passed on to other public authorities for further case administration in accordance with applicable legislation.

We do not transfer personal data to third countries.

The one who wants a refund, which can be the shipping company or the seafarer himself, submits the personal data. The Danish Maritime Authority encourages personal data to be sent via e-Boks or via a secure file box solution.

We store personal data for 5 years.

If personal data about you has been handed over, you have, at any time, the right to withdraw your consent. You can do this by contacting us.

If you choose to withdraw your consent, it does not affect the legality of our processing of your personal data based on your former given consent and up to the time of withdrawal. Therefore, if you withdraw your consent, this will only become effective from this time.

You have, through the General Data Protection Regulation, multiple rights regarding our processing of data about you. If you would like to make use of your rights, you have to contact the Danish Maritime Authority.

Right to see data (Right of access)

You have the right to gain access to the data about you that we process, and a number of additionally data.

Right to rectification (correction)

You have the right to rectify incorrect data about yourself.

Right to erasure

In special cases, you have the right to get data about you erased before the time when our normal general erasure happens.

Right to restriction of processing

In certain cases, you have the right to get the processing of your data restricted. If you have the right to get the processing restricted, we may in the future only process the data – except from storage – with your consent, or in order to determine, enforce or defend a legal claim, or to protect a person or important public interest.

Right to objection

In some cases, you have the right to object against our processing of your personal data.

Right to transmit data (dataportability)

In some cases, you have the right to receive your data in a structured, commonly used and machine readable format, and get these data transferred from one controller to another, without hindrance.
