If you want to apply for a job as ab electrician in an authorised electrical/plumbing company, you will not have to apply for this approval, as in that case, it will be the authorised company, that will have to valuate whether your qualifications will be enough. In that case it is only necessary to contact us, if you have to be the technically responsible person in the company.
If you want to apply for work, and need an assessment of your foreign education instead, you can contact the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science: https://ufm.dk/en/education/recognition-and-transparency/recognition-guide Some might think that is an advantage, when they apply for a job in Denmark.
If you intend to work on a temporary or occasionally basis in Denmark, you will not have to apply for an approval, if you have obtained your diploma in an EU/EEA country. However it is a requirement that you make an agreement with an authorised company, because they will have to connect and assemble the cables/pipes, as you are not allowed to do that.
Persons who intend to work on a permanent basis, in Denmark as a cable installer or a pipe fitter on basis of their professional qualifications acquired in another EU or EEA country or countries with which the EU has entered into an agreement on access to pursue a regulated profession, have to request for recognition of their professional qualifications.
Persons, who has obtained their diploma in a country outside EU/EEA, will have to request for recognition of their professional qualifications.
If you apply and get an approval as cable installer/pipe fitter, you can run cables/fit pipes, but you will not be allowed to connect and assemble the cables/pipes. In that case, you will have to make an agreement with an authorised company, so they can do the work, that you are not allowed to. It will aslo be them, who are responsible for the total installation to the owner. “
Following documentation is required:
Cable installer:
Copy of documentary evidence of electrician’s qualification, or Copies of the attestations of professional competence or of the evidence of formal qualifications giving access to the profession as cable installer, if the profession or the education is regulated in the Member State of origin, or
If the profession or the education is not regulated in the Member State of origin, evidence that the applicants have pursued the profession as cable installer on a full-time basis for one year or for an equivalent overall duration on a part-time basis during the previous 10 years in another Member State and copy of attestations of professional competence or evidence of formal qualifications, or
Fulfilment of the requirements as regards automatic recognition, see section 12 of the executive order on the conducting of electric cables and water pipes.
Pipe fitter:
Copy of documentary evidence of smith’s qualification or plumbing fitter’s qualifications, or
Copies of the attestations of professional competence or of the evidence of formal qualifications giving access to the profession as cable installer, if the profession or the education is regulated in the Member State of origin, or
If the profession or the education is not regulated in the Member State of origin, evidence that the applicants have pursued the profession as pipe fitter on a full-time basis for one year or for an equivalent overall duration on a part-time basis during the previous 10 years in another Member State and copy of attestations of professional competence or evidence of formal qualifications, or
Fulfilment of the requirements as regards automatic recognition, see section 12 of the executive order on the conducting of electric cables and water pipes.
Please notice:
All required documents must be presented in Danish, English, German, Swedish or Norwegian. The academic certificates needs a sworn translation
The documents must be in one of the following types: gif, png, jpeg, bmp, pdf
The decision on whether or not to issue an approval will be made as soon as possible after all necessary documents have been received. Normally you can expect to get an answer from the Danish Safety Technology Authority within four weeks.
In case of rejection
If the Danish Safety Technology Authority decides to reject your application for approval, you will receive a reasoned notification. You cannot appeal this decision to other authorities.
