E-scooters aswell as other personal mobility devices without a seat are not covered by harmonized type approval, and are therefore not allowed on to be used in traffic in Denmark unless they are specifically mentioned in Danish legislation.
E-scooters are covered by the European Machinery Directive but the Danish pilot scheme sets up additional requirements relating to dimensions, lights, speed etc.
The Danish Road Traffic Authority are responsible for the traffic rules, and hence the product specific rules set up in the pilot scheme required for use in traffic.
The Danish Safety Technology Authority are responsible for the CE-marking and the product in general.
