Act on Animal Welfare
The Act on animal welfare establishes the rules on treatment of animals in Denmark. The Act encompasses all animals, both wild and domesticated.

The Act also establishes certain bans regarding the keeping and use of animals:
Section 4 prohibits sexual use of animals, except for veterinary or zootechnical reasons, including breeding and reproduction, animal research or other equally legitimate reasons.
Section 6 prohibits the use of live animals as targets for the purpose of training or competition shooting.
Section 7 prohibits to let animals fight for the purpose of entertainment. Furthermore, it is prohibited to arrange animal fighting.
Section 8 prohibits the use of power machines when delivering animals.
Section 16 prohibits keeping of foxes, except for keeping of foxes in zoos, for use in animal research, and for keeping of domesticated foxes.
Section 28 establishes that animals shall not be trained or used for the purpose of displays, circus performances, recording of films or similar activities if doing so inflicts substantial inconvenience on the animal. Animals shall not be displayed in travelling menageries.
