Driving instructor

If you wish to work as a driving instructor in Denmark, you must have an authorisation issued by the Danish Road Safety Agency.

According to section 66 in the Danish Road Traffic Act, you must meet the following requirements:

  • reached the age of 24

  • have a driving licence

  • the driving licence must not have been suspended or withdrawn for the last 2 years

  • not have conducted in a way that is compromised by the Danish Criminal Code section 78, subsection 2

If you wish to pursue a regulated profession as driving instructor, you must obtain authorisation from the Danish Road Safety Agency. You must have your qualification recognised by the authority responsible for the profession before you can start work. The application must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • Contact information: first name, last name, address, phone number and e-mail.

  • Proof of nationality (identity card or passport)

  • Authorisation certificate or other certificate giving you access to the profession

  • Criminal record

  • A description of your training as a driving instructor including dates and qualifications gained

Proof of your driving instructor career and for how long you have used your qualifications as a driving instructor

The same requirements apply for both temporary and permanent service providers.
